Samantha's New York City Choir Tour

 

Lisa started her new job at CMC Care Factor on April 26. This is her new business card

 

Jesse went to Butterfield Acres, a kid's 'Hands On Farm' with her pre-school group on May 25. Bob accompanied her as a volunteer chaperone

 

Sam  auditioned for the Calgary Stampede Youth Talent Showdown on May 30 with the song "Reflection" from the Disney movie "Mulan". Bob programmed/recorded the music tracks. Unfortunately she did didn't make the cut this time but nevertheless, her performance was wonderful and we are very proud of her effort. Audio performance here

Lisa's sister Deneen graduated from Lethbridge College with her master's degree in education on May 28. Lisa accompanied her

 

Samantha's choir will be touring the Maritimes during the summer of the year 2000. Lisa is the Tour Director

 

On a sad note, Bob's sister Marge passed away on February 20 in Winnipeg. Bob, Lisa and the girls traveled to Regina to pick up Bob's sister Millie and brother Willie to attend the memorial service which was held on February 27 in Winnipeg    Obituary

 

Jesse 'graduated' from her pre-school class on June 9. Here's her diploma

 

Barb Nickel, Garth Ternes and Samantha each had a hand in shaving Bob's infamous locks in the evening of June 29 for the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta "911 Life Shavers" program. The Kids Cancer Care Foundation would like to say a big THANK YOU! to these generous folks who donated a total of $445: Monique Gallant and Doug Cox, Eric Deutscher and Laurie Bryan, Mark Deutscher, Laurel and Terry Groves, Darren Exner, Nat and Paul MacDonald, Betty and Cyril Gallant, Gerry Moser, Renee Hetherington, Greg Fairweather, Deneen Gallant-Norring and Ken Norring, Louise Penney, Eric Gallant, Nicole Gallant, Paulette Mulally, Garth and Betty Ternes, Barb and Art Nickel and Roger Rose. Bob delivered the funds to the Kids Cancer Care Foundation office on July 23.

 

We attended Samantha's school's Awards Ceremony on June 28 where she received certificates for Honour Roll (over 80% average - just a single point under 90%!!) and highest grade 7 mark for French  Language Arts in the Late Immersion Program

 

Samantha received a letter from the Calgary Flames Entertainment Committee in June inviting her to audition for the position of  female National Anthem vocalist for the upcoming hockey season at Calgary's Canadian Airlines Saddledome . She auditioned there on September 2 and sounded great singing both the Canadian and US anthems. The position was awarded to a more experienced vocalist. She may yet get an opportunity to do at least one game. Stay tuned!

 

Lisa's sister Natalie gave birth to a 6 lb, 9 1/2 oz boy at 9:00 PM July 23 at the Sturgeon Community Health Center, St. Albert, Alberta! A healthy Christian Douglas MacDonald measured 19". The baby's father, Paul ( just recently in temporarily from his tour of duty in Macedonia and Kosovo) and grandmother, Betty Gallant were present for the delivery. Congratulations Nat and Paul! Lisa commenced with her CGA course at SAIT on August 31, Sam started grade 8 on September 1 and Jesse started at the Pineridge Community Pre-school on September 8.

Samantha began her 7th year (5th as a senior) with The Calgary Children's Choir early this September and again spent a weekend workshop with the choir at Camp Horizon near Bragg Creek. Lisa was elected president of the choir and is also interim tour director for the choir's visit to the Maritimes during the summer of the year 2000.

Bob played a gig with the band 'Hot Cargo' at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise, Alberta on September 18. It was for the hotel owner's wedding. Among the guests were Glen Sather (GM - Edmonton Oilers), Ed McNally (Big Rock Brewery) and the world famous, award-winning chocolatiere, Bernard Callebaut! Lisa and the girls came along as the band had rooms provided for and Sam sang 'How Do I Live' and 'Everyday Is A Winding Road' with the band knocking everyone's socks off!! It was the first time she had ever sung with a live band and she rose to the occasion with huge confidence!

On Wednesday, September 22, Lisa's sister Monique gave birth to a 9 lb, 3 oz girl at 5:23 PM at the Lion's Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC! A healthy  Michaela Jane Cox measured 22". The baby's father, Doug was present for the delivery. Congratulations Nick & Doug!
